Of Seeing and Being: Giannina Dwin and Tony Fernandez
Presented by Deering Estate AT The Frank program

The Frank is proud to present Of Seeing and Being: Giannina Dwin and Tony Fernandez, an exhibition curated by Liliam Dominguez, Head Curator and Museum and Collections Manager at Deering Estate. Part of the Deering Estate AT The Frank program, this exhibition features the compelling works of Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence Giannina Dwin and Tony Fernandez, who explore themes of presence, absence, and the interplay between the visible and hidden.

Giannina Dwin’s ethereal salt installations, ceramic sculptures, and delicate representations of the female form delve into questions of temporality, identity, and transformation. Tony Fernandez’s abstract photographs of the Deering Estate’s natural landscapes blur the boundaries between documentation and poetic expression, offering fresh perspectives on the natural world. Complementing their work, two exclusive short films created by fellow Artist-in-Residence Jorge Gonzalez Graupera deepen the viewer’s connection to these themes.

This exhibition is part of the Deering Estate AT The Frank program, which expands the cultural reach of Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence by showcasing their work in dynamic new settings and fostering community connections.

Exhibition Dates: March 13 – June 7, 2025
Opening Reception: Thursday, March 13, 6 – 9 p.m.

Deering Estate AT The Frank
The Deering Estate AT The Frank program consists of a joint venture with other cultural institutions to showcase Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence (AIRs) outside the Estate. It aims to enhance each institution’s reach and resources to achieve a common goal: expanding the artists’ cultural reach by making diverse artistic expressions accessible to a broader audience. The program fosters creative synergy and community connections through art exhibitions, cultural performances, and dynamic programming. The Deering Estate AT The Frank program exemplifies the Estate’s commitment to supporting current and past AIRs and elevating their practice at every stage of their careers while honoring the spirit of innovation and discovery that the Deering Estate inspires and underscoring the importance of alliances that bridge institutional boundaries.

The Deering Estate announces the launch of Deering Estate AT The Frank, an inspiring collaboration with The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery and Exhibit Hall. This special program features the work of Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence Tony Fernandez and Giannina Dwin, presented in The Frank’s gallery spaces during Spring 2025. Enhancing the exhibition are two short films, created exclusively for the artists by fellow Artist-in-Residence Jorge Gonzalez Graupera.

This partnership brings together the resources, expertise, and audiences of both institutions, creating an inspiring platform for artistic growth and community engagement. Deering Estate AT The Frank is more than an exhibit—it’s a shared vision that deepens the public connection to contemporary art and opens new pathways for artists to reach and inspire diverse audiences.
