Deering Estate AT Program: Marmoris: A Selection from the Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence Archive
The Coral Springs Museum of Art features Marmoris 2: A Selection from the Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence Archive on display daily from April 3 – May 23, 2026.
Marmoris, from the Latin word for marble, evokes both the classical weight of artistic legacy and the enduring textures of time and transformation. This exhibition draws from the Deering Estate’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) archive, presenting a curated selection of works that reflect the depth and diversity of artistic inquiry fostered on-site over the past two decades. This second iteration expands the original framework to include works by current residents, alongside new projects developed by past participants. Marmoris 2 will be on view through May 23.
This archival selection underscores the AIR program’s long-standing commitment to process-based exploration and place-based creation. Marmoris 2 invites viewers to consider how artistic practices preserve, question, and reshape collective memory by revisiting pivotal works and moments from the residency’s legacy. The exhibition stands as both a reflective monument and a living platform for future inquiry, where what has been carved endures, and what is ephemeral becomes part of an ever-evolving artistic topography.
Participating artists: John Bailly, Susana Behar, Andres Cabrera-Garcia, Deryn Cowdy, Bill Cruz, Elaine Defibaugh, Giannina Dwin, Tony Fernandez, Natalia Garcia-Lee, Jorge Gonzalez Graupera, Jeanne Jaffe, Gustavo Matamoros, Karen Rifas, Lissette Schaeffler, and Barron Sherer.
The exhibition will run from April 3, 2026 to May 23, 2026, with a special opening reception on April 10th from 6 pm to 9 pm at The Coral Springs Museum of Art.
This exhibition is part of the Deering Estate AT program, a partnership that brings Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence to new audiences by showcasing their work in dynamic, collaborative venues beyond the Estate.

About the Deering Estate AT Program
The Deering Estate AT program consists of a joint venture with other cultural institutions to showcase Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence (AIRs) outside the Estate. It aims to enhance each institution’s reach and resources to achieve a common goal: expanding the artists’ cultural reach by making diverse artistic expressions accessible to a broader audience. The program fosters creative synergy and community connections through art exhibitions, cultural performances, and dynamic programming. The Deering Estate AT program exemplifies the Estate’s commitment to supporting current and past AIRs and elevating their practice at every stage of their careers while honoring the spirit of innovation and discovery that the Deering Estate inspires and underscoring the importance of alliances that bridge institutional boundaries.
About the Deering Estate
Deering Estate, located at 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Miami, is a 21st Century house museum, cultural and ecological field station, and a national landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, owned by the State of Florida and managed by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. Deering Estate is designated as one of seven Miami-Dade County “Heritage Parks” which have a vital role in our community’s history, environment and in providing recreational and cultural experiences.
