Join our naturalist staff for a hike through the Deering Estate’s protected natural areas. Along the way, learn about native plants and animals and the Cutler Burial Mound. Staff Guided Nature Preserve Tour are offered once daily at 12:30pm, October through May. All guests, including Deering Estate Foundation Members, are required to sign-up at the Main Gate before the tour begins in order to ensure their space. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first- serve basis.
The Nature Preserve Tour is no additional charge after paying the general admission, $15 for adults (ages 15+) & $7 for children (ages 4-14), and free for Foundation Members (please show your membership card at the Ticket Booth on the day of your visit).
As part of Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s inaugural Miami-Dade Farmers Month in November, you can learn about Ethno Botany on weekend tours in November. Guests will walk through the Tropical Hardwood Hammock with a Deering Estate naturalist and explore the diverse uses of plants by different cultures. Learn to identify native plants that have been used in the past for food, clothing, shelter, medicine, and magic, and discover the fascinating connection that people and plants have always shared.
