Encaustic Workshop

Unleash your creativity in this introductory encaustic workshop, where Artist-in-Residence Andrea Clement guides you through the expressive works of painting with heated beeswax.

Encaustic art is an ancient art technique that involves layering molten beeswax onto a panel, then incorporating pigments, paint, and other materials to create richly textured, luminous works of art.  This 5-hour workshop will guide participants to through the essential encaustic methods, including layering, building texture, incising lines and shapes, embedding lightweight papers, and scraping to reveal hidden details within your piece. Designed for beginners and experienced artists alike, this class takes on a playful, experimental approach.

No prior painting or encaustic experience is required. All materials are included.
