In the Venezuelan highlands, a pregnant Mercedes—fed up with her drunken husband—decides to take her two children and head down the dusty road toward freedom.

Caracas is known worldwide for many things, but few realize that one of its citizens’ greatest daily traumas is simply finding a parking spot. A couple takes the risk and puts their relationship to the test in the city’s chaotic streets.

Ramiro, a fisherman, wants to teach his craft to his 8 year old son, Jonah. But Jonah has been acting strangely terrified of something lurking in the bushes behind their home.
⦿ Caracas en Moto – Directed by: Daniel Ruiz Hueck – Documentary – 10 min; Venezuela
In this lively documentary, traffic in Caracas is petrifying—considered by experts around the globe, and by exhausted citizens, to be a source of extreme and often fatal stress.
⦿ Centripeta – Directed by: Alex Mendez – Fiction – 7:08 min; Venezuela
Through a downpour in the middle of the night, a couple travels a deserted highway. Unexpectedly, the headlights of their car illuminate what appears to be a crime scene: a man is dragging a body on the asphalt.
⦿ Ley Orgánica 1/92 – Directed by: Juan Luis Fermín – Fiction – 11 min; Venezuela
An incompetent police officer uses the so-called “1/92 law” as a pretext to mistreat two women who arrive at the station to file charges and report a rape. Duration: 71 minutes
Cost: $45 (members and non-members). Tickets are available online only through Miami short Film Festival. All ticket sales are final. There are no refunds of tickets or fees for any reason.
Parking & Directions: Free parking is available in the Visitor Center parking lot located on SW 168 Street just west of 72nd Avenue. The event will be held indoors in the Visitor Center Theater.
