Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, there has been a change in artist for the entertainment at the sold out Summer Cabaret Concert on Aug. 24th. Deering Estate is elated to welcome LaGaylia Frazier.

About the artist:
Her career started as a classical pianist, training from the age of 5, mainly urged by her mother. Her exceptional voice was discovered by her music teacher when she was a teenager. The piano has since then not been practiced professionally. As a music student at the University of Miami she sang and toured the world with the University’s Chamber Singers. Before her move to Sweden she was discovered by the legendary manager Eliot Weisman who also managed Liza Minnelli, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra.

Upon LaGaylia’s move to Sweden in 2001 she immediately warmed to audience and media alike. She started touring nationwide with ”Rhapsody in Rock”, which was soon followed by record releases, numerous concerts and Tv productions.

She was hand-picked for the role of “Anita” in the musical “West Side Story” which she performed both in Malmö in 2003 and at the National Theatre in Stockholm in 2013.

In 2010 LaGaylia received the Anita O’Day Award. She performed for Quincy Jones who was a Guest of Honor at ”Ystad/Sweden Jazz Festival in 2012.

The highly acclaimed jazz album ”Until it’s time” was released in 2012 as a successfull result from LaGaylia’s collaboration with Jan Lundgren, one of Sweden’s most recognized and international jazz pianists. The album was rated ”Jazz album of the Year” by a Swedish magazine.

Since 2016 LaGaylia collaborates with the Swedish music icon Håkan Hellström as his musical sidekick with concerts in New York, crowded arena concerts in Sweden, Norway and Germany.

LaGaylia was a featured jury member in Swedish TV4’s ”Talang” (”Sweden’s Got Talent”) during four seasons.

In 2018 LaGaylia conquered a semi final position in TV4’s ”Star of the Stars” (”Stjärnornas Stjärna”).
On New Year’s Eve 2018 LaGaylia performed a 10 minute tribute on national Tv to celebrate the legacy of Aretha Franklin.

In 2019 LaGaylia showed off in the immensely popular Tv4 production “Strictly come Dancing”.

Currently LaGaylia tours around Sweden with – “Tina the Show” – with a triumphant start spring 2024. The tour continues with an almost sold-out October/November period.

“Tina the Show” moves to Hotel Jacy’z in November and lasts up until Christmas.

When time allows LaGaylia tours with her own band ”LaGaylia Soul Unit”.
