Film and Photography at The Deering Estate
Thank you for your interest in the Deering Estate as the setting for your souvenir snapshops, personal portraits, scenic photography, and commercial still photography and film shoots. The following are the photographic options available at the Deering Estate:
Visitors to the Deering Estate are welcome to take souvenir snapshot photos or souvenir videos on the main grounds and inside of the house for personal use. Portrait photography, flash photography, and videography with lights are strictly prohibited inside the historic houses – Stone House, Richmond Cottage, Carriage House, Power House and Pump House – for the benefit of other visitors and to protect our sensitive collections.
Personal Portraits and Scenic Photography
Personal Portraits and Scenic Photography photo shoot permits are available for individuals who wish to use the Deering Estate as the setting for scenic photography*, fine art photography*, and personal posed portraits, including (but not limited to) engagement, wedding, birthday, quinceañera, graduation, couples, family photos, headshots, or any other posed portraiture. Personal Portraits are not permitted inside the historic houses at any time. Deering Estate reserves the right to further define portrait photography on a case-by-case basis.
Personal Portraits and Scenic Photography are allowed daily between 10am and 5pm and the permit must be purchased at the Main Gate or Visitor Center office between 10am and 4pm on the day of your photo shoot.
This permit fee is $100 plus 7% sales tax and provides admission for up to 4 people, including your (one) photographer (amateur, professional, semi-pro, student, paid or unpaid) and subject(s). Any additional subject(s) joining pay the regular admission rate(s). Photo shoot permits are non-refundable. Deering Estate Foundation members receive a 25% off discount on Personal Portraits and Scenic Photography permits.
Advance reservations are not necessary however we recommend calling ahead for information on daily park activities.
*Note: Photographers using the Estate as the subject for scenic or fine art photography are required to credit all work that is exhibited or reproduced elsewhere, as such: “The Deering Estate.” Additionally, all work that is created or reproduced while on the Estate or using Estate images shall not be for commercial use, and can only be made available for private exhibit.

Commercial Still Photography and Filming
Commercial Still Photography and Filming Permits are by advance reservation only. An additional permit is required from the Miami Dade County Film and Entertainment Office. Permits allow commercial still photography and filming outside of the historic houses only between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Larger Commercial Still Photography and Filming Permits than what is defined below, including major film and television shoots, require approval and will be approved on a case by case basis after submitting detailed request in writing. Approvals may require additional rental or staffing fees.

Certificate of Insurance for Public Liability Insurance in an amount not less than $1,000,000 combined single limit for bodily injury and property damage is required. The Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72 Avenue, Miami, Florida 33157, must be named as additionally insured. Please fax this documentation to 305-254-5866.
Commercial Still Photography Fees
Small – scale Commercial Still Photography (up to 10 talent/crew & limited to no more than 1 trailer and a small number of support vehicles): $1,000 plus 7% sales tax per day
Mid – scale Commercial Still Photography (up to 30 talent/crew & limited to no more than 2 trailers and a small number of support vehicles): $1,500 plus 7% sales tax per day
Each additional hour during regular business hours is $100 and $150 before or after regular business hours
½ Day Commercial Filming (up to 30 talent/crew): $2,000 plus 7% sales tax per day
FULL Day Commercial Filming (up to 30 talent/crew): $3,000 plus 7% sales tax per day
Each additional hour during regular business hours is $300 and $400 before or after regular business hours
