*NEW!* Virtual Marine Conservation (ages 9 to 14)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Wednesday, repeating until May 27, 2020
Join us for Virtual Science classes through Zoom!
These classes are geared for students ages 9-14. Each class will be from 10-11:30 am. Class materials will be available the day before at our Visitor Center through contactless pickup. Classes will explore the fields of wildlife biology, marine biology, ecology, and environmental science. $5 per student, per class.

Marine Protected Areas: Participants will learn about Marine Protected Areas. Each will be assigned as a stakeholder and have to defend or oppose the creation of the Marine Protected Area.

Build a Boat: Participants will learn about buoyancy and the scientific method. They will design their boat that must keep afloat.

5/20- Plankton Challenge: Participants are challenged to design a planktonic organism that will neither float like a cork nor sink like a stone. They are given pictures of planktonic organisms and simple materials. The best model of a planktonic organism will sink slowly or be neutrally buoyant. After designing with their team mates, students test and race their plankton in a simulated ocean

Build a Shark: Participants will learn about marine organism adaptations. They will design their very own shark that must be able to swim through the water column.
