Discover science, conservation, art, and much more through nature based recreational activities in our [email protected] series offered one Saturday each month from 10am -1pm. Ages: 6-14. Please note that this is a drop off program.
Participants must practice social distancing and wear face coverings. Please review the latest COVID-19 safety guidelines prior to visiting. Drop off & Pickup are located at the Visitor Center.
Cost: $15 per person. Registration online only.

2021:
Saturday, November 13
Activity: For the Birds, Wild Wings
Description: Participants will spread their wings as they learn about local birds, and create bird feeders from upcycled materials such as milk cartons and cardboard rolls.
Saturday, December 11
Activity: Under the Roots
Description: Learn more about the Deering Estate’s rich history as we visit a Tequesta burial mound, and participate in a mock archeology dig.
2022:
Saturday, January 8
Activity: Wild Ride, Through the Years, All Around Deering
Description: Beep beep, time for a tram ride! Participants will get to see everything from the historic houses to the salt marshes, and continue to learn important local history.
Saturday, February 12
Activity: Mangrove Mania, Mud & Microplastics
Description: Participants will aid in cleaning up one of our most important local ecosystems: the mangroves! After the cleanup, they will weigh and categorize the trash they found.
*Old shoes and clothes are highly recommended, as this is a very muddy hike.
Saturday, March 12
Activity: Pipeline Hike
Description: Participants will go on a wet hike through Deering Estate’s pipeline trail. After, participants will learn about local ecosystems and build terrariums.

Saturday, April 16
Activity: On the Water
Description: Students of age will participate in a basic ‘how to kayak’ class.
Saturday, May 14
Activity: Blown Away
Description: For our final day, participants will go critter catching and learn about hurricane season.
