Vanessa Lustig is co-founder and creative half of Atelierlustig, a unique hybrid art workshop that integrates contemporary art & fine jewelry art. Her art practice focuses on observing and researching the changing psychological, cultural and post-anthropocentric contexts and situations that embody modes of post-human identity & culture. Vanessa creates delicate, minimalist fiber interventions on two and three dimensional media, hand felted objects embedded with responsive technologies, and experimental jewelry using meticulously mastered craft techniques and new technologies. The resulting works spark awareness of what she terms the “in-betweens” of human and more-than-human entanglements – a constant reminder that we (humans) can only be (exist) not because we relate to Others (humans), but because we relate to Others (multi-entity). Lustig holds an MFA with Distinction from Transart Institute + Liverpool John Moores University, and has a multidisciplinary background in graphic design, communication science, photography, clinical and positive psychology.
