DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026 for the 41st International Coastal Cleanup — the world’s largest one-day volunteer effort for our oceans and waterways! Show your commitment to reducing marine debris alongside millions of volunteers across the globe. Miami-Dade’s participation, organized by VolunteerCleanup.org and Clean Miami-Dade, features 65+ cleanups all over the county with 4,000 volunteers. This specific cleanup is being led by Deering Estate’s Conservation Team!\nT-shirts with this year’s marine animal theme, the Humpback whale, are available for purchase. Order before August 30 if you want your shirt to arrive before the cleanup.\nThe Miami-Dade ICC is made possible by the generous support of our strategic level sponsors Ocaquatics, City of Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo, and Terra Group, with additional support from Climate First Bank, City of Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins, and PADL.\nImportant details:\n\nRegistration is required to participate in the cleanup.\nA paper waiver for Miami-Dade County Parks will be provided on the day of the event. ** However, if you are under 18 and coming without a parent or guardian, you must have a parent/guardian print and sign the waiver HERE in advance, and bring it with you to the cleanup.\nWe will provide garbage bags, gloves, and data collection cards. Community Service hours are also provided\nPlease bring water in a reusable container. Let’s reduce waste and refuse single-use disposable plastic water bottles.\nDownload the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app to participate in the Citizen Science activity to log, tally and measure the impact of your cleanup.\nDress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. This is a mangrove/paved type of site and you should wear closed-toed athletic shoes, are best. Flipflops or sandals are NOT permitted.\nSunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are recommended.\nIf you have your own reusable working or gardening type gloves, bring them. We will be providing gloves but cannot guarantee they will be in your size.\nSome volunteers like to use a bucket during a cleanup.
