About the Blackstar Blues Band:
Blackstar is an eclectic mix of talented players that love to play all that great rock, funk, and rhythm & blues that still stirs your soul. Don Hyink is the founder/leader/guitarist of the band and possesses what many have called the best blues/rock vocals in the area. Bruce Turkel is our man up front directing traffic, playing blues harp, trumpet, and singing his heart out. Allen Lynch is a graphic designer by day and one of the most respected and desired drummers in the area. Carlos Avila is Blackstar’s trombone player and musical director. His talents have him frequently traveling internationally for touring and recording. Oscar Dudamel plays saxophone in our horn section affectionately known as “The Schmokin’ Section” and is yet another Blackstar member in high demand internationally. Paul Hoyle is the reason we can say Grammy and Blackstar in the same sentence. A Grammy winner for his production work, Paul has worked at the top level of the industry.
